Aaliyah also appeared in two films before her untimely passing in August 2001.

Album: Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number From a young age, Aaliyah showcased her musical talent. Signed by her uncle to Blackground Records at 12, she released her debut album, "Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number," at just 14. The album, distributed by Jive Records, sold 3 million copies in the US and achieved double platinum status, marking a strong start for the young star. Album: One in a Million Aaliyah’s sophomore album, “One in a Million,” also achieved double platinum status under Atlantic Records. Film: Romeo Must Die Before the release of her third album, Aaliyah ventured into acting with “Romeo Must Die.” In this tale of forbidden love, she portrayed the daughter of an American mobster who falls for a Chinese mobster, played by Jet Li. Aaliyah also served as an executive producer for the film's soundtrack, contributing four tracks including the chart-topping “Try Again.”

Film: Queen of the Damned After establishing herself in the music industry, Aaliyah took on the role of Akasha in “Queen of the Damned” in 2002. Playing an immortal vampire with mind control abilities, Aaliyah completed filming before her tragic passing. Despite receiving mixed reviews from fans and critics, the movie added to Aaliyah’s diverse legacy.
